HMPL-002

HMPL-002 is a small molecule radiosensitizer developed by HUTCHMED (formerly Hutchison MediPharma) for the treatment of solid tumors. It was primarily investigated for its potential to enhance the efficacy of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In clinical studies, HMPL-002 was evaluated both as a standalone agent with radiation and in combination with platinum-based chemoradiotherapy. The drug reached Phase I/II clinical trials in the United States and proof-of-concept stages in China during the mid-2000s. However, development was subsequently discontinued, and the candidate is no longer part of HUTCHMED's active oncology pipeline.
