The hMPV 1c-SApNP vaccine is a preclinical vaccine candidate developed by Uvax Bio using its proprietary 1c-SApNP® (one-component self-assembling protein nanoparticle) platform. This technology, licensed from Scripps Research, involves the design of a single protein subunit that self-assembles into a nanoparticle displaying 20 stabilized viral antigens on its surface. For this specific candidate, the nanoparticle displays the Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) fusion (F) protein in its prefusion conformation. This high-density, multivalent display is intended to mimic the natural appearance of the virus and elicit a potent, durable neutralizing antibody response. The vaccine is currently in the research and discovery phase, targeting the prevention of respiratory infections caused by hMPV, particularly in vulnerable populations such as infants and the elderly.
