hMPV mRNA LNP 1 is an investigational messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine candidate encapsulated in a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation. It is designed to prevent lower respiratory tract disease caused by human metapneumovirus (hMPV), and in some formulations also targets respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The vaccine encodes the fusion protein of hMPV and/or RSV, delivered via lipid nanoparticles to promote cellular uptake and antigen expression. The encoded antigens are derived from specific viral strains and are not engineered with prefusion stabilizing mutations; however, they predominantly express in the prefusion conformation. This approach aims to elicit neutralizing antibody responses against both viruses. Clinical studies have shown that the vaccine increases neutralization titers against hMPV and is being evaluated for safety and immunogenicity in both children and older adults[1][2][3][4].
