HN0037

HN0037 is a novel small molecule helicase-primase inhibitor (HPI) developed by Huinuo Biopharmaceutical Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, including HSV-1 and HSV-2. Unlike traditional nucleoside analogs such as acyclovir, which target the viral DNA polymerase and require activation by viral thymidine kinase, HN0037 directly inhibits the viral helicase-primase complex (consisting of UL5, UL52, and UL8 subunits). This complex is essential for DNA unwinding and RNA primer synthesis during viral replication. By targeting this distinct mechanism, HN0037 remains effective against acyclovir-resistant HSV strains. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of recurrent genital herpes.
