HNC1058 is an investigational small molecule drug that acts as an autotaxin (ATX) inhibitor. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and systemic sclerosis. The drug targets autotaxin, a secreted enzyme (also known as ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 2 or ENPP2) that converts lysophosphatidylcholine into lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), a bioactive lipid involved in fibrosis and other pathological processes.
