hnRNP A18 siRNA is an experimental small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A18 (hnRNP A18), also known as Cold Inducible RNA Binding Protein (CIRP). hnRNP A18 is an RNA-binding protein that is frequently overexpressed in various solid tumors, including melanoma, breast, prostate, and colon cancers. It promotes tumor progression by binding to and stabilizing the 3' UTR of pro-survival mRNAs such as HIF-1α, TRX, ATR, and CTLA-4, thereby enhancing their translation. In preclinical mouse xenograft models, siRNA-mediated knockdown of hnRNP A18 has been shown to significantly reduce tumor growth, proliferation, and invasion, while also sensitizing cancer cells to chemotherapy and hypoxic stress. Currently, it exists primarily as a laboratory research tool used in academic oncology studies and has not entered formal clinical development by a pharmaceutical sponsor.
