Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ho-166 QuiremSpheres is a radiopharmaceutical device consisting of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) microspheres loaded with the radioactive isotope Holmium-166 (166Ho). It is used for Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT), also known as radioembolization, to treat primary and metastatic liver tumors. Holmium-166 is a high-energy beta-emitter with a half-life of approximately 26.8 hours, which also emits gamma radiation, allowing for SPECT imaging and MRI-based dosimetry. The microspheres are administered via the hepatic artery, where they lodge in the tumor's microvasculature, delivering localized radiation while sparing healthy liver tissue.
