Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Holour is an advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) consisting of an autologous cultured oral mucosa graft, developed by Holostem Terapie Avanzate. It is specifically designed for urethral reconstruction in patients with hypospadias who have experienced previous surgical failures. The therapeutic process involves harvesting a small biopsy of the patient's own oral mucosa, followed by the ex vivo expansion of epithelial cells on a scaffold or carrier to create a tissue-engineered graft. This graft is then surgically implanted to reconstruct the urethra, providing a biocompatible and functional replacement for the urethral lining. By utilizing the patient's own cells, Holour aims to reduce the risk of graft rejection and complications such as strictures and fistulas, which are common in complex reconstructive urological procedures.
