Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Homvioalbin is a homeopathic medicinal product developed by HOMVIORA Arzneimittel Dr. Hagedorn GmbH & Co. KG, specifically indicated for the management of mild hypertension. It is a monocomponent preparation containing a potentized extract of *Viscum album* (mistletoe), typically at a D1 dilution level. The drug was the subject of a Phase 2, prospective, randomized, 3-arm parallel clinical trial that compared its antihypertensive efficacy and sedative potential—measured via EEG theta power—against the complex homeopathic remedy Homviotensin and the beta-blocker metoprolol. The study concluded that Homvioalbin effectively lowers blood pressure without inducing the sedation or central nervous system depression often associated with conventional antihypertensive agents. It is currently marketed in Germany as a registered homeopathic pharmaceutical.
