Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Honey-refined chuanbei pipa paste (also known as Mi Lian Chuan Bei Pi Pa Gao or Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation widely used for the relief of sore throat, coughs, hoarseness, and loss of voice. It is formulated as a thick, sweet, and cooling syrup. The preparation contains a synergistic blend of herbal ingredients, primarily the bulb of *Fritillaria cirrhosa* (Chuanbei) and loquat leaf (*Eriobotrya japonica*, Pipa), along with other supporting herbs such as platycodon root, tangerine peel, and menthol, refined with honey. It works by moistening the lungs, resolving phlegm, and soothing the respiratory tract. It is manufactured by several prominent TCM companies, most notably Nin Jiom and Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pangaoshou.
