Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hong Huang Decoction (HHD) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulation developed by the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily investigated for its cardioprotective effects in patients with breast cancer undergoing anthracycline-based chemotherapy. The decoction is thought to mitigate anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity by modulating oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways. Clinical studies have demonstrated that HHD can regulate levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), nitric oxide (NO), and cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-10 (IL-10), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), thereby improving global longitudinal strain (GLS) and reducing myocardial injury.
