Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Honghua Danpi phenolic ointment is a topical botanical drug candidate developed by Guangdong Zhongda Nanhai Marine Biotechnology Engineering Co., Ltd. for the treatment of soft tissue injuries, osteoarthritis, and joint diseases. The formulation is derived from the phenolic extracts of two traditional Chinese medicinal plants: *Carthamus tinctorius* (Honghua or Safflower) and *Paeonia suffruticosa* (Danpi or Moutan Cortex). These extracts contain active constituents such as paeonol and safflor yellow, which are known for their anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and blood-circulation-promoting properties. The drug has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China (e.g., CTR20131700) to establish its safety and tolerability profile in healthy volunteers.
