Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Honokiol liposome is a liposomal formulation of the natural biphenolic compound honokiol, which is derived from the bark of *Magnolia officinalis*. Developed by Chengdu Jinrui Jiyie Biotechnology, this formulation is designed to overcome the poor aqueous solubility of honokiol, thereby enhancing its bioavailability and therapeutic potential for intravenous administration. Honokiol exerts broad anti-tumor effects by inhibiting multiple oncogenic signaling pathways, including the Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), and Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) pathways. Additionally, it has been shown to induce apoptosis, inhibit angiogenesis by targeting Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and suppress tumor cell migration and invasion. The liposomal delivery system aims to improve the pharmacokinetic profile and safety of honokiol in patients with advanced malignant solid tumors.
