Hormophysa triquerta polyphenol, specifically the ethyl acetate extract (HT-EA), is a botanical compound derived from the brown seaweed *Hormophysa triquerta*. Developed through research at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Annamalai University, it is being investigated for its potential to treat radiotherapy-resistant pancreatic cancer. The extract works by downregulating a broad array of molecules involved in tumor invasion and metastasis, most notably CXCR4 and COX2, as well as beta-catenin and MMP9. By suppressing these targets, HT-EA inhibits the migration and invasion of residual cancer cells that survive clinical radiation, thereby potentially preventing tumor recurrence and metastatic spread.
