Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hotin DCL is a topical gel emulsion containing diclofenac, developed and marketed by Taisho Pharmaceutical Indonesia. It is indicated for the relief of various musculoskeletal conditions, including joint pain, back pain, rheumatism, and sports-related injuries such as ankle sprains, patellar tendinitis, tennis elbow, and runner's knee. As a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), diclofenac works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which reduces the production of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation and pain. The product is formulated as an emulsion to penetrate the skin and deliver the active ingredient directly to the site of pain. It has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials as a comparator for other topical analgesic formulations in the management of acute musculoskeletal pain.
