Overview

House dust mite SLIT (sublingual immunotherapy) is an investigational allergen-based biologic developed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and mild intermittent asthma. The therapy consists of a *Dermatophagoides farinae* (house dust mite) allergen extract administered sublingually. It works by modulating the immune system's response to dust mite allergens, specifically by increasing allergen-specific IgG4 levels and improving bronchial allergen thresholds, thereby reducing IgE-mediated hypersensitivity. In clinical trials, it has been evaluated in both high-dose (approximately 70 μg Der f 1) and low-dose (approximately 1 μg Der f 1) regimens to determine safety and efficacy in sensitized adults.
