The house dust mite allergy VLP vaccine is a preclinical-stage therapeutic vaccine being developed by AdaptVac for the treatment of house dust mite (HDM) allergy. The vaccine utilizes AdaptVac's proprietary capsid virus-like particle (cVLP) technology to display the major HDM allergens, Der p 1 and Der p 2, in a highly repetitive, multivalent format. This architecture is designed to mimic the structure of a virus, thereby triggering a robust immune response that can induce allergen-specific tolerance or produce neutralizing IgG antibodies. The goal of the therapy is to prevent the allergic cascade by intercepting allergens before they can cross-link IgE on the surface of mast cells and basophils, potentially offering a more effective and long-lasting alternative to traditional subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT).
