Overview

House dust mite sublingual drops refer to a class of allergen immunotherapy (AIT) products containing standardized extracts of house dust mites, most commonly *Dermatophagoides farinae* and *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus*. These products are administered sublingually to induce immunological tolerance in patients suffering from allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, or atopic dermatitis. The mechanism of action involves the modulation of the immune system's response to mite allergens, specifically by promoting the expansion of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and shifting the cytokine profile from a pro-inflammatory Th2 response toward a Th1-mediated regulatory profile. This shift leads to a reduction in allergen-specific IgE levels and a decrease in the recruitment of inflammatory cells like eosinophils and mast cells to the target tissues. A prominent example in the Chinese market is the *Dermatophagoides farinae* drops (brand name Chan Di) developed by Zhejiang Wolwo Bio-Pharmaceutical, which has been investigated in Phase II trials for the treatment of atopic dermatitis and is already approved for allergic rhinitis and asthma.
