Overview

Beltavac is a glutaraldehyde-polymerized allergenic extract (allergoid) derived from the house dust mite species *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*. Developed by Probelte Pharma, it is designed for subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy (SCIT) to treat allergic rhinitis and rhinoconjunctivitis, including cases associated with asthma. The polymerization process with glutaraldehyde modifies the allergens to reduce their IgE-binding capacity (allergenicity) while preserving their ability to stimulate T cells (immunogenicity). This modification enhances the safety profile, allowing for the administration of higher allergen doses to induce immune tolerance and desensitization more effectively than native extracts.
