Houtou Jianweiling

Houtou Jianweiling is a traditional herbal medicine formulation, primarily derived from the *Hericium erinaceus* (Lion's Mane) mushroom, used for the treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders. It is specifically utilized for chronic non-atrophic gastritis due to its purported ability to promote the repair and regeneration of the gastric mucosa, exert anti-inflammatory effects, and provide cytoprotection against gastric acid and pepsin. The University of Karachi has sponsored clinical research to evaluate its efficacy and safety in a randomized, double-blind, non-inferiority trial comparing it to the proton pump inhibitor omeprazole.
