Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**HPβCD-I complex** is an investigational topical insulin inclusion complex in which insulin is noncovalently complexed with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin at a reported 1:5 insulin-to-cyclodextrin molar ratio. The cyclodextrin carrier is intended to improve insulin solubility, stability, and local bioactivity in a Carbopol gel formulation. It was developed at Universidade Estadual de Maringá and evaluated as a once-daily topical gel for healing grade II pressure ulcers in a small randomized, double-blind clinical study.
