HP-3040 is an investigational 7-day transdermal patch formulation of tolterodine, developed by Noven Pharmaceuticals (a subsidiary of Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical). Tolterodine is a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist used to treat overactive bladder and urinary incontinence. By targeting muscarinic receptors in the bladder, it reduces the frequency of detrusor muscle contractions and urinary urgency. HP-3040 utilizes a drug-in-adhesive technology designed for continuous transdermal delivery over 168 hours (7 days), potentially offering improved patient compliance and a more stable pharmacokinetic profile compared to oral extended-release formulations like Detrol LA.
