HP-6050

HP-6050 is a transdermal patch formulation of the typical antipsychotic haloperidol, developed by Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical using its proprietary Transdermal Drug Delivery System (TDDS) technology. It is being developed for the treatment of delirium, psychomotor agitation, and irritability, particularly in elderly patients. Haloperidol acts primarily as a potent antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors in the brain. The transdermal route is intended to provide stable plasma concentrations of the drug over an extended period, potentially reducing the side effects associated with peak plasma levels seen in oral or injectable administration. Furthermore, the patch formulation offers a non-invasive and convenient administration method for patients who may be uncooperative or have difficulty swallowing due to their clinical condition.
