Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination ophthalmic formulation containing hydroxypropyl guar (HP-Guar), tobramycin, and dexamethasone. HP-Guar is a gellable polymer used as a lubricant and viscosity enhancer in artificial tears, providing prolonged ocular surface protection, hydration, and lubrication by forming an elastic matrix on the corneal surface[1][3][5]. Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, used for treating or preventing bacterial eye infections. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory properties; it reduces swelling and inflammation in the eye by suppressing immune responses[6][10]. This combination would be intended for use in conditions where both infection risk/inflammation and dry eye symptoms are present.
