HP501 is an orally available small molecule inhibitor of urate transporter 1 (URAT1; SLC22A12), developed for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. By inhibiting URAT1 in the kidney, HP501 increases renal excretion of uric acid, thereby lowering serum uric acid levels. In phase I/II clinical studies involving healthy volunteers and hyperuricemic patients, HP501 demonstrated a significant reduction in serum uric acid concentrations—up to about 50%—with a tolerable safety profile. The drug has also shown synergistic effects with febuxostat without apparent pharmacokinetic interactions. Developed by Hinova Pharmaceuticals, it represents a new molecular entity within the antigout class and is under further clinical investigation for gout and related kidney disorders[2][4].
