HP515 is an orally bioavailable small molecule and highly selective thyroid hormone receptor beta (THR-β) agonist being developed by Hinova Pharmaceuticals. It is designed to target the THR-β pathway in the liver, which plays a central role in regulating lipid metabolism, mitochondrial activity, and bile acid synthesis. By selectively activating the beta isoform of the thyroid hormone receptor while sparing the alpha isoform (associated with heart rate and bone density side effects), HP515 aims to reduce hepatic fat accumulation and improve liver health. The drug is primarily being investigated for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and is also being explored for other metabolic conditions such as obesity and diabetes mellitus.
