HPEI + HS-T34A is a **gene therapy drug formulation** composed of **biodegradable heparin–polyethyleneimine (HPEI) nanoparticles** delivering a plasmid encoding the human survivin dominant-negative mutant gene *T34A* (hs-T34A). The formulation is designed to transfect cancer cells with the hs-T34A gene, resulting in the expression of survivin T34A mutant protein, which inhibits survivin's normal antiapoptotic function. This leads to **induction of apoptosis** (programmed cell death) and **inhibition of angiogenesis** (formation of new blood vessels), both in vitro and in vivo, thereby suppressing tumor growth, particularly in ovarian cancer. The system uses HPEI as a nonviral carrier with low toxicity, high transfection efficiency, and biodegradability. Primary indication is **ovarian cancer gene therapy**[1].
