Overview

HPIMBD is a synthetic resveratrol analog, specifically 4-(E)-{(4-hydroxyphenylimino)-methylbenzene-1,2-diol}, developed as a novel azaresveratrol derivative with selective anti-cancer activity. Mechanistically, HPIMBD inhibits the proliferation of breast cancer cells by inducing apoptosis and autophagy, and suppressing key oncogenic proteins such as estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and c-Myc in ER-positive cell lines. In ER-negative cell lines, the mechanism of synergy with tamoxifen is via early autophagy and late apoptosis. HPIMBD has shown reduced toxicity toward normal breast epithelial cells and demonstrates synergistic efficacy in combination with tamoxifen in both ER-positive and ER-negative breast cancer cell lines[1][5].
