HPN-01

HPN-01 is a first-in-class, orally administered small molecule drug under development for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). It acts as a potent and selective inhibitor of I-kappa B kinase (IKK), specifically targeting IKK-alpha, IKK-beta, and IKK-epsilon. Additionally, it inhibits sterol regulatory element-binding transcription factors SREBF1 and SREBP-2. By modulating these pathways, HPN-01 aims to reverse liver steatosis, reduce inflammation and lipid peroxidation in the liver, and improve fibrosis and overall liver function. The drug is being developed by Hepanova for oral administration and is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials[1][2][3][4][5][6].
