HPN-205 is an investigational small molecule integrin inhibitor developed by Hepanova for the treatment of fibrosis. Integrins are a family of transmembrane receptors that facilitate cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) adhesion and signaling. In the context of fibrotic disease, specific integrins (such as those in the alpha-V family) play a critical role in the activation of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a master regulator of myofibroblast activation and excessive collagen deposition. By targeting integrin-mediated signaling and TGF-β activation, HPN-205 is designed to disrupt the pathological pathways that lead to tissue scarring and organ dysfunction.
