HPS-328

HPS-328 is a transdermal patch formulation of bisoprolol developed by Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical. It is designed to deliver bisoprolol (as the free base) percutaneously, providing a continuous and controlled release of the drug into the systemic circulation. Bisoprolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist (beta-blocker) that reduces heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand. This transdermal delivery system is developed for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris, offering a non-invasive alternative to oral bisoprolol formulations with potentially improved patient compliance and more stable plasma drug concentrations.
