HPV 16 E7:12-20 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 12 through 20 (LQPETTDLY) of the E7 oncoprotein from human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16). This peptide represents a minimal epitope recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), particularly in the context of HLA-A*02 and related MHC class I molecules. The E7 protein is an oncogenic driver in HPV-associated malignancies, especially cervical cancer. The HPV 16 E7:12-20 peptide has been used as an immunogen in therapeutic vaccine research to elicit antigen-specific CD8+ T cell responses against cells expressing the viral oncoprotein. Its mechanism involves presentation by MHC class I molecules on infected or transformed cells, leading to targeted immune-mediated destruction of these cells[1][2][5].
