Overview

HPV16 E6 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the HPV16 E6 oncoprotein. In high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, particularly HPV16, the E6 protein promotes oncogenesis by inducing the degradation of the tumor suppressor p53 and by activating the pluripotency factor OCT4. By targeting the E6 mRNA for degradation via the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), this siRNA restores p53 levels and reduces OCT4 expression, thereby inhibiting cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cervical cancer cells. It is primarily used as a research tool to investigate the molecular mechanisms of HPV-driven carcinogenesis and as a potential therapeutic candidate for HPV-associated malignancies.
