HPV16 E7 43-77 peptide is a therapeutic peptide vaccine candidate designed to treat malignancies associated with Human Papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16), particularly cervical cancer. The peptide consists of a 35-amino acid sequence from the HPV16 E7 oncoprotein that encompasses a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) epitope (E7 49-57) and two T-helper (Th) epitopes (E7 50-62 and E7 43-77). By targeting these epitopes, the vaccine induces robust systemic and local cellular immune responses, characterized by an increase in IFN-γ-producing CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. Furthermore, it has been shown to modulate the tumor microenvironment by reducing the presence of immunosuppressive cells such as myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), regulatory T cells (Tregs), and M2-polarized tumor-associated macrophages, thereby reversing tumor-induced immune evasion.
