HR091506 is an oral small molecule xanthine oxidase inhibitor (XOI) being developed by Jiangsu HengRui Medicine for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. It works by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is responsible for the sequential oxidation of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid. By blocking this metabolic pathway, HR091506 effectively lowers serum uric acid levels, addressing the underlying cause of gout flares and urate crystal deposition.
