Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HR17020 is a subcutaneous formulation of apixaban, a direct factor Xa inhibitor, developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine. Apixaban is a highly selective, reversible, and direct inhibitor of free and clot-bound factor Xa, as well as prothrombinase activity. By inhibiting factor Xa, the drug decreases thrombin generation and thrombus formation. While apixaban is traditionally administered orally (marketed as Eliquis), HR17020 is being developed for subcutaneous administration, which may offer clinical advantages in specific patient populations or settings. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE).
