Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HR17031 is a novel, once-daily fixed-ratio combination drug consisting of a basal insulin analogue (INS068) and a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist (SHR20004). It is being developed primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The drug acts through dual mechanisms: as an insulin receptor agonist to improve glycemic control by increasing glucose uptake and as a GLP-1 receptor agonist to enhance insulin secretion in response to meals, suppress glucagon release, slow gastric emptying, and promote satiety. Developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine, HR17031 has reached phase III clinical trials for type 2 diabetes mellitus in China. Early-phase studies have also explored its use in renal insufficiency and obesity[1][2][3][5].
