Overview
HRN01 is an investigational small molecule neuroactive steroid developed by Beijing Huareidingxin Technology for the treatment of postpartum depression (PPD). It is specifically designed as a long-acting injectable formulation of brexanolone, a positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA-A) receptor. By modulating GABAergic signaling, HRN01 aims to rapidly restore the balance of inhibitory neurotransmission that is often disrupted by the hormonal fluctuations following childbirth. Unlike the first-generation treatment brexanolone (Zulresso), which requires a 60-hour continuous intravenous infusion in a supervised healthcare setting, HRN01 is intended to provide a more convenient and accessible dosing regimen through a single injection. The drug is currently undergoing early-phase clinical trials in China to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile.
