HRS-1758

HRS-1758 is a small molecule agonist of the thyroid hormone receptor beta (THRβ) developed by Tuojie Biotech, a subsidiary of Hengrui Medicine. It is currently under investigation for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). THRβ is the predominant isoform of the thyroid hormone receptor in the liver and plays a critical role in regulating hepatic lipid metabolism, including fatty acid oxidation and cholesterol clearance. By selectively targeting the beta isoform, HRS-1758 aims to reduce liver fat content and improve metabolic health while avoiding the systemic adverse effects, such as cardiotoxicity and bone density loss, typically associated with the activation of the THRα isoform. The drug is currently in early-stage clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile.
