HRS-4790

HRS-4790 is a long-acting tri-agonist targeting the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor, the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor, and the glucagon (GCG) receptor. Developed by Tuojie Biotech, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, the drug is designed for the treatment of metabolic disorders, including obesity and type 2 diabetes. By simultaneously activating all three receptors, HRS-4790 aims to leverage the synergistic effects of GLP-1 and GIP on insulin secretion and appetite suppression, combined with the glucagon-mediated increase in energy expenditure and lipid metabolism. This multi-receptor approach is intended to provide superior weight loss and glycemic control compared to existing mono- or dual-agonist therapies. As of 2024, the asset is in early-stage clinical development.
