HRS-4800 is an orally administered small molecule drug developed for the treatment of pain, including postoperative pain and peripheral neuralgia. It acts as a selective blocker of the sodium channel protein Nav1.8 (also known as sodium channel protein type X alpha subunit), which plays a key role in the transmission of pain signals in peripheral nerves. By inhibiting Nav1.8, HRS-4800 aims to reduce neuronal excitability and alleviate pain symptoms[1][2][3]. The drug was initially developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals and has reached Phase 2 clinical trials for indications such as acute postoperative dental pain (e.g., impacted tooth extraction)[1][2][3]. Atridia, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine, has also been involved in its development[3].
