Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HRS-5817 is an experimental drug being developed as a treatment for obesity and overweight. It is described as a class 1 chemical drug with a nucleic acid modality, currently under investigation in Phase 1 clinical trials in China. Preclinical studies suggest HRS-5817 induces weight loss in obese animal models with an acceptable safety profile[4][5][7]. There are currently no drugs with the same target mechanism approved for marketing globally[5]. The exact molecular target and mechanism of action have not been publicly disclosed[7]. The drug is administered by subcutaneous injection[1][2][3][7]. HRS-5817 was initially developed by Shanghai Tuojie Biotechnology and is now being advanced in clinical studies by Fujian Shengdi Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Hengrui Pharmaceutical[1][3][5][7].
