Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**HRS-8427 + metformin** is a combination of the investigational small-molecule antibacterial agent **HRS-8427** and the approved oral antihyperglycemic agent **metformin**. HRS-8427 is being developed primarily for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections, acute pyelonephritis, hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia, and Gram-negative bacterial infections. It is administered intravenously. Metformin is a well-established biguanide used in type 2 diabetes, administered orally, and acts mainly by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity. Recent Phase 1 trials have examined the intravenous co-administration of HRS-8427 and metformin in healthy subjects to evaluate pharmacokinetic interactions and safety, with metformin serving as a probe substrate for drug transporter studies (MATE1/2-K)[1][3][6].
