HS-173 is a **novel imidazopyridine-based small molecule inhibitor** that selectively targets **phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase alpha (PI3Kα)**, a key enzyme involved in the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. It has demonstrated potent **antiproliferative, antimetastatic, and chemosensitizing activities** in multiple cancer cell lines, including pancreatic, non-small cell lung, breast, and head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. HS-173 suppresses epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), inhibits tumor metastasis, induces G2/M cell cycle arrest, and promotes apoptosis in cancer cells. The drug has also been shown to enhance the efficacy of other agents (e.g., cisplatin, radiotherapy) and is subject to reduced efficacy in multidrug-resistant cells overexpressing efflux transporters such as ABCB1 and ABCG2. Preclinical studies suggest potential application in the treatment of advanced and metastatic solid tumors, but it is not approved for clinical use.
