Overview

HS-201 is a heat shock protein 90 (HSP90)-targeted photosensitizer developed for photodynamic therapy (PDT) in cancer treatment. It consists of a small molecule HSP90 inhibitor chemically linked to verteporfin, a photosensitizer. By exploiting the high expression of HSP90 in cancer cells, HS-201 selectively accumulates in tumors, enabling targeted visualization and photodynamic therapy. Upon activation by near-infrared light, it generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) to destroy tumor cells while minimizing damage to normal tissue.
