Overview

HS-20136-2 is an investigational, long-acting peptide-based triple agonist that targets the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), and glucagon (GCG) receptors. Developed by Jiangsu Hansoh Pharmaceutical, it is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of obesity and associated metabolic conditions. The drug's mechanism involves a synergistic approach: GLP-1 and GIP receptor activation promotes satiety and improves glucose-dependent insulin secretion, while glucagon receptor activation increases energy expenditure and thermogenesis. This multi-receptor targeting strategy aims to achieve superior weight loss and metabolic improvements compared to mono- or dual-receptor agonists. It is currently in early-stage clinical development and is administered as a subcutaneous injection.
