Overview

HS-401 is a recombinant protein biologic based on the endogenous Hyaluronan and proteoglycan link protein 1 (HAPLN1), currently under development by HaplnScience for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The drug acts as an extracellular matrix (ECM) biologic designed to support and restore elastin fiber synthesis and activity within alveolar and bronchial tissues. By stabilizing the lung's structural framework and promoting elastin activity, HS-401 aims to address the underlying tissue degradation and loss of lung elasticity characteristic of COPD and emphysema. The therapeutic candidate is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
