Overview

HS38 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of Death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) and Death-associated protein kinase 3 (DAPK3), also known as Zipper-interacting protein kinase (ZIPK). Developed as a chemical probe, HS38 is primarily used in research to investigate the physiological roles of the DAPK family in processes such as apoptosis, autophagy, and actin-cytoskeleton reorganization. Preclinical studies have utilized HS38 to explore the role of DAPK3 in intestinal regeneration and the progression of ulcerative colitis, where its inhibition has been shown to interfere with Hippo-YAP signaling and exacerbate disease severity in animal models.
