hsa-miR-6791-5p inhibitor is a synthetic antisense oligonucleotide designed to specifically inhibit the function of the microRNA hsa-miR-6791-5p. These inhibitors typically work by Watson-Crick base pairing with the mature miRNA, forming a stable duplex that prevents the miRNA from associating with its target messenger RNAs (mRNAs). This action lifts the natural repression of gene expression by the miRNA, thereby restoring normal gene expression and cellular function.
