Overview

HSK31858 is an oral, potent, and highly selective small molecule inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP-1), also known as cathepsin C. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of bronchiectasis and other chronic airway inflammatory diseases characterized by airway mucus hypersecretion. The drug works by inhibiting DPP-1, which plays a key role in activating neutrophil serine proteases (NSPs) such as neutrophil elastase (NE), cathepsin G (CatG), and proteinase 3 (PR3) during neutrophil maturation. By blocking DPP-1 activity, HSK31858 reduces NSP activation and subsequent inflammation in the airways. Developed by Haisco Pharmaceutical Group, it has shown promising safety and efficacy results in phase I–III clinical trials for bronchiectasis and is also under investigation for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
